15/01/2009 - Happy New Year...

Just a quickie really. I've uploaded a load of pics spanning the last 3 gigs and i'm working on some vid clips too.

Also... Don't forget that we're playing at the KL Corn Exchange this sat as part of the Next Big Gig all dayer. There's still tickets available from us at £10 each. We'll be on anywhere between 8pm and 10:15pm so you need to be there by 7:50 just incase we're on at 8pm. You wouldn't wanna miss us...would you?!?!?!?

Anyway, that was pretty much it. Don't forget as well that the CD is for sale at £5 a go. Not bad for 6 top quality tracks...

Corn Exchange Baby...Yeah!

02/12/2008 - KLFM Interview...

I've just been sent the interview of us on KLFM from the other week. It's on the
AUDIO PAGE, surprisingly enough, and is ready for everyone to download and listen to over and over again...!

There's also a small sample of the CD up now on the AUDIO PAGE. Have a listen and let us know what you think by posting your thoughts on in the Guest Book

Audio Page I Say...Audio Page...
Jay...

02/12/2008 - News Update...

The CD has been completed...the artwork finalised...licences all sorted... track list arranged...price agreed and soon, very soon, our CD will be available to buy.

After lots of random ideas for the title, including "WOT YEW SAY" and "MAN FLU", we've finally settled for a self-titled title. We're calling it 6ft Something mainly because none of us have any imagination and also because it's the only one we could all agree on that wasn't retarded...!

Due to printing costs and legal thingys the price is gonna be £5 now not £3 as we said before. But it's worth the money just to have a piece of West Norfolk history.

Not since the mighty POD released their last album, has there been a punk CD this good... Ok, so that might not be 100% true, but there are 5 quality tunes on there and when we're famous you can all sit in your arm chairs and say "I had their 1st ever CD you know".

In other news...the new year's eve gig at the Coach & Horses in Dersingham is confirmed. We will be on from about 9:30pm until gone midnight. It is a ticket only gig, so if you want to come along, give the pub a ring on 01485 540391 and they will tell you how to go about getting a ticket. The cost will be £5 each.

"6ft Something" - Out Soon...
Jay...

24/10/2008 - Important 6ft News...

While we've been away the last few weeks, many things have happened.

1st off we've been proper busy recording tracks for our CD, which after a silly long time, is almost ready. It has 5 tracks plus a bonus live track. When it's finally ready, it'll be on sale for a very respectable £3. We're still not 100% on the title, so I wont say anything yet, but as soon as it's confirmed I'll announce it here.

Keep an eye on the Audio Page over the next few days cause I'll be putting up short clips from the CD to wet you're appetites.

2nd we're going on KLFM-96.7 Sunday for an interview and play of a few of our tracks. We're gonna be on air from 2pm - 3pm so best tune in and support us.

Keep Listening...
Jay...

14/09/2008 - Hello :) ...

Just in case you thought we'd all been stuck down a well for 2 months, we haven't. But we have had some time off for a couple of reasons...
1: cause we felt like a rest and
2: we had to start the search for someone to replace Luke when he swans off to be a doctor or whatever it is he's going to do at Uni.

So...as soon as we got back from playing in Coalville, we set to work on find a replacement for the boy blunder. It feels like we've got a drum academy going or something with the amount of drummers we've had. But anyway, after ages of mindless searching, ads in the paper and all that it was with excitement that at the Maid's Head last night we introduced the world, well Lynn, to our new drummer... Pete Catlin.

Considering he only had 2 weeks from getting the nod to actually playing live, Pete did himself as well as us proud and pulled of something amazing, playing the whole set of over 30 songs brilliantly, especially as he is only 15 YEARS OLD!!!

We'll get his profile up soon, but until then Luke will be back on the stool for the next 2 gigs, which are at the Coach and Horses - Dersingham and a mission down to Kettering to play at the Old Market Inn. After that he goes to Uni and Pete will be in full-time.

There are a few PICS and VIDS from the gig in the galleries as usual. So go check Pete out and if you know him, tell him he is the nuts!

Pete...Pete...Pete...

13/07/2008 - Small Site Update...

How ya gettun arn boi... It dawned on me today that I hadn't put the pics up from the Maids gig the other week. So I've done those tonight. I've also got some vids from the Maids as well as Bar Red to edit and upload, which I'll do over the next few days.

I've also put Caught Up on the Audio Page . It's only a DEMO version, with out Luke's drums, but we're doing that once the Coalville gig is done so son't panic.

Speaking of gigs...we're in the WENNS this FRIDAY night and at the Vic Pub in Coalville, Lecs' next FRIDAY. If anyone wants to make the trip over there with us, let me or one of the guys know asap so we can get you the details.

More To Come...

20/06/2008 - We Went On The Radio We Did...

It's true, we were on the radio last night and even if we do say so ourselves, the acoustic track well down really well. The judges weren't giving much away as to who they thought would go on to the final next week but we've got everything crossed.

I've managed to get a rough recording of us playing our acoustic song from off the radio.
It's on the audio page ready for you to download and play loads of times cause it's so
good. Let us know what you think to it by leaving a comment on the guest book or by droping any of us an Email.

Cheers...

14/06/2008 - KLFM BATTLE OF THE BANDS...

We're gonna be on the radio!!

We submitted our original track "Caught Up" and we've made it in to the last 10, which means we're going in to the KLFM studio on Thursday as part of the KLFM Battle of the bands competition.

We'll be on air from 6:30 and all I know is that there'll be an interview, they'll play our track and we're gonna play a secret, never before heard Acoustic track. Can't say what it is yet, but it's a punk song that sounds well good acoustically.

In case you don't know, the prize for winning the Battle Of The Bands, is a slot in the King's Lynn Festival Too, which this year includes punk legend, Toyah as well as Atomic Kitten.

KLFM's station is found on the FM band around the 96.7 mark, so tune in and set the "tape" to record from the radio, just like you used to record the top 40 as a kid...yea, you know you did...we did too.

Thursday - 6:30pm - KLFM 96.7fm...

03/06/2008 - Gig Cancelled... Again...

Unfortunately this weekends gig at the Wildfowler has been cancelled. I'm not gonna go in to all the ins and outs of it but they've dumped us in favour of something else AGAIN, but this time with only a few days notice.
Needless to say we're mighty pissed off seeing as this is the second time they've done it now, but what can you do when all you have is a verbal contract.

But on the brighter side of things, the Maids Head gig is still on and we have a right laugh in there every time we play. Last time a drunk girl fell over the monitor and pushed my mic stand in to my face as i was singing. I wonder what'll happen this time lol.

Maids Head - 28th June...
Jay...

18/05/2008 - Drummer Wanted...Yes Again...

Yes, the time has come for our littler drummer boy to depart for Uni. Well, not just yet but having learned our lesson last year we're starting the hunt early. So if you fancy the job or may know someone that might just possibly want the job or even if you know someone that knows someone who knows a drummer, (too much?) let us know.
We have a gig that Luke cannot play so we need someone soon to get them up to speed by the time everything hits the fan. :D

The observant ones amongst you will notice that there is now a fully functioning "Audio" page on the site. The old page just didn't play the tracks so so needed sorting.
It only has 3 tracks there at the moment, 2 from the other weeks Next Big Gig and the studio vers of "6 Feet Under", but I'm working on getting more up.

There are also a couple of videos from the Next Big Gig up in the "videos" section. Ghostbusters, New Rose and our very own, Caught Up. The sound isn't fantabulous but a drunk guy and his better half recorded it for us, so it's pretty damn good...Cheers guys!

Just one last thing... I dedicate this entire update to a woman that moaned (what a surprise lol) that our site never gets updated. Well, there ya go. It's all for you so enjoy! Muhahahaha :D

Bar Red - 24th May...
Jay...

22/04/2008 - Myspace Finaly Worked...

Yes, believe it or not MySpace actually works for publicity. The other day we got an email from a venue in Kettering in Northamptonshire asking us if we'd play there. No really, it happened! So on the 26th of September, we'll be making the 140 mile round trip to Kettering to make noise outside of Norfolk for the 1st time. Anyone that wants to come support us, contact us and we'll give you the directions.

More gig updates...
There's a date at the Coach & Horses in Heacham and don't forget as well, that we're playing the Next Big Gig this sat night at the Queen's Arms in London Rd, Lynn.
It's £5 entry on the door or by adv ticket. But please by the tickets from us, cause that's the only way we'll make any money from it lol.

MySpace, F@@k Yeah...
Jay...

13/04/2008 - Update...

We've written another song, no really we have. All I can tell you at the moment is that it's more in keeping with the more recent songs in the set instead of the more old skool punk tunes. It's all recorded and there's a rough mix floating about with drum samples while we wait to record Luke's drums. Watch this space for more updates.

Just an update and a reminder on the gig front now. There are some changes to the listings, which include the Wash & Tope gig being cancelled, the Wildfowler gig being moved and a date added for the Wenns in July.

Gigs Woooooo...
Jay...

26/03/2008 - Sorry...

Apologies to anyone that was expecting to see us over the Easter weekend, especially
to the Midway MCC crew. There was a communication breakdown, as they say, and the
guys didn't get the message about us not being able to play untill it was too late.

Don't forget to come see us play at the Queen's Arms on the 26th of April.
It's another "Next Big Gig" night and it's an all ticket jobby. Tickets are £5 each
and available from any band member or by emailing us HERE .

Sorry again...
Jay...

27/02/2008 - What...another gig?...

Greetings sports fans, we've got a doozy of a game for you tonight...
We're back in Lynn again this weekend with a gig in the Maids Head on the Tuesday
Market Place, Sat night. Should be another good night like the last one was and we've got
a load of new songs added just to spice things up a little bit.

So yea, that's kinda it...

See you there...
Jay...

10/01/2008 - News Flash...

As a last minute thing, we're now playing the Wash & Tope in Hunstanton on Sat night, starting at about 9pm. They've had a band let them down so we're filling in and saving the
day and making up for cancelling the gig last month.

ALSO... The gig at the Queen's Arms on the 19th is now cancelled due to work demands.
Anyway, long story short we're not playing on that date now and at the minute it isn't
rescheduled. But we ARE still playing the NEXT BIG GIG date in April.

Also, keep an eye out on the gig list as there should be a few more dates added over
the next few weeks.

Hopefully we'll see you in the Tope sat night, but we won't be offended if not cause
it's proper short notice...!

Cheers...
Jay...

10/01/2008 - Happy New Year...

Hope you all had a good xmas and new year.
Well the maids gig went really well, considering it almost didn't happen. Gerry caught a bug that was going round that week and at 7:30, still wasn't well enough.
So we set everything up and sound checked with out him. But he pulled himself together
and turned up at 10 to 9 ready to start just after 9 and it turned out to be probably our
best gig yet. We played almost all the new songs and they all went down well.
So cheers to anyone that came to see us in the maids and more thanks to those that
came up to us after and said nice things :)

Next gig is the Queen's Arms on the 19th

See you there...
Jay...

18/12/2007 - Game On...

Wow 2 months feels like a year without a gig, but we end the new year with a good'un.

This sat we're playing in the Maid's Head, right in the middle of town and if last year is anything to go by, town will be rammed with people all wanting a Christmas drink!
To add to that we've got 7 new songs to show off for this gig as well as all the old favs.

For the people that keep asking me where the Maids Head is, it's on the Tuesday Market Place, Lynn right next the Duke's Head Hotel, you really can't miss it, even if you wanted to..!

We're gonna be on from around 9pm till about 11:30, depending on how many extra's we have to do to keep the punters happy :D

Also, For the people that check this site everyday and know everything that's going on
in our lives (hi mum), you would have seen we had a gig at the Wash & Tope in
hunstanton listed for next week too.
Unfortunately we booked the gig then found out Luke is in Canada for new years, so that royally screwed that idea up. Not Luke's fault, I know, but he does have long hair so he's easy to blame :p

See you all in the Maid's sat night. It's gonna be well good, so you'd be mighty foolish to miss it.

"Now you've got no excuses, So i'll see you down the front"...
Jay...

22/10/2007 - Break Time..

Well we had mixed results this last week. The WILDFOWLER gig was awesome fun.
There wasn't many people there cos of the bloody rugby, but the people that were there
made plenty of noise and we thought we played pretty well too.

The COCK gig was a bit weird though. Not many people turned up for various reasons
and we didn't play all the cracky, but they did do some good chips :D and they want us
back in the new year with the promise of more people and better publicity too,
so it's all good.

That's it for us now until 22nd DEC when we play at the MAIDS HEAD on the Tuesday
Market Place in Lynn, (ye olde mayden's head) and I reckon it'll be pretty damn packed,
being a couple of days before Xmas and that. So i advise you to get there early to get
some drinks in while you can actually get to the bar!!

We're Dreaming Of A 6ft Christmas...
Jay...

11/10/2007 - Look Out Lynn, It's The 6ft Boys..

The 6ft band-wagon rolls in to THE WILDFOWLER, Lynn this Sat and I expect everyone
to be there, cos it's in Lynn and it's free!!!

For those of you that have seen us before, (Big B and Ruth), look out for a few new songs
and a few old songs that we haven't had the chance to gig before. We're on from 9pm
and it should be a proper good night too, so you'd be stu-put not to turn up!!

ALSO.. Next Friday we're playing THE COCK, MAGDALEN so all you yokels out
in the sticks better come out and see us.. but please leave the pitch forks at home.

And in other news..
I've got a job, so I can finally afford to get the data recovered from my hard drive,
which means the demo may finally see the light of day!!

We'rrrrre, goin daaan the pub...
Jay...

30/09/2007 - Vids..

Ok, so I changed my mind and edited the vid clips from the NEXT BIG GIG. They are a bit
poor and you can't hear all the vocals properly, but that's digital cameras for ya.

Vid clips...Ho!
Jay...

28/09/2007 - And A Week Later...

Only a week after the event, i've got the pics up from the NextBigGig, last Friday.
Big thanks to Andy from Stone Pony for putting it on and asking us to play it.
There are some short vid clips, but i dunno if i can be arsed to put them up yet 'cause
they're not all that really, but i'll see how i feel 2mro.
So in closing,
Go look at us NOW!

Thank you :D
Jay...

20/09/2007 - Another Shameless Promotion...

See You Tomorrow Night...
Jay...

17/09/2007 - It All Starts Again...

Yup that's right, come Friday the gigging starts all over again for us.
We're taking part in the "NEXT BIG GIG" at the Queen's Arms in London Rd, Lynn.
Then we get a few weeks off to polish up for our 1st solo gig in months at the Wildfowler,
Gayton Rd, Lynn, closely followed the next Friday by a gig at the Cock, Magdalen.

There, now you know so there's no excuse not to turn up and all the other gigs are on the LEFT of EVERY PAGE on the site so there's doubly no excuse to say, "I didn't know you were playing…blah blah blah"

I'll be seeing you at a gig soon…
Jay...

15/08/2007 - The Gallery's Up...

I've finally got round to putting the picture gallery together. It has pics from 3 of the gigs
we've done, but from now on we'll get a pic or 2 from every gig.
Also, the videos from last Tony's party are on the videos page now too. The quality is
a bit poor, but the original files were poor too so not much I could do with them really.

Enjoy the new stuff...
Jay...

12/08/2007 - Outdoor Gigs, They're Too Good...

Yesterday's gig went well and was a good laugh.
We went on as the sun was setting and played until it was dark. We have no idea of how
long we played for but it felt like ages with all the encores we did.
Everyone played well especially Luke…what a drummer. I only realised this morning
that he had learnt over 20 songs to a gig quality with only 2 rehearsals…
...Well done Luke...WHAT A DRUMMER!!!

Just wanna say thanks to Tony for inviting us to play at his party and to Cocoon for their part in the day.

6ft Something are back people!
Jay...

09/08/2007 - Update...

It seems forever since the site had something new on it, so here goes.
After more posters than we can remember and a few try-outs, we've found a new drummer! His name is LUKE and he's younger than all of us so that makes him the baby :D Make sure you come say hi to him at any of our gigs cos he's well shy and we'd like to embarrass him as much as possible.

His first test will be this Saturday when we play a private gig along with COCOON. We've only had 2 nights practice with Luke for this gig, so we're hoping it'll go alright, then we can spend lots of time getting Luke up to speed ready to start gigging again soon.

The gigs should start popping up quite quickly as at least 2 pubs are waiting on us to give them a date when we think we'll be gig ready again. So hopefully we'll be playing in a pub near you before the end of the summer.

Fingers crossed for Saturday hey...
Jay...

04/07/2007 - Big Thanks...

It's a bit late, but we all wanted to say thanks to Harry Seaton and the guys from Cocoon for putting sat night together, twas a good laugh.
Extra big thanks goes out to Paul, Cocoon's drummer. He stepped in to help us with no practice at all. The only preparation he had was hearing the 1st 30 seconds of each song during sound check... WHAT A LEGEND!!

Thanks everyone...
Jay...

30/06/2007 - Gig Tonight...

Just a little note about tonight's gig in West Lynn.
As Matt is no longer with us, (I mean the band no dead) for tonight's set Cocoon are lending us their drummer, which is nice of them. This also means it's gonna be a monster mash up of noise :D So anyone coming and expecting the same set as the White Horse, sorry but come along anyway, have a dance/mosh/pogo whatever you wanna do and watch us make a right ol' hash of it and have a laugh with us.

See you there...
Jay...

25/06/2007 - DISASTER STRIKES!...

A MONSTER UPDATE FOR EVERYONE...

Two of the worst things possible have happened in the last few weeks.
First off, Matt has to put down his sticks forever after being diagnosed with arthritis in both wrists at the ripe old age of 22… YES 22 and he has arthritis. What else can we say, except it's a royal pain in the arse for us and more importantly for Matt.
So that means we have a spot to fill, anyone's welcome to try out for Matt's spot, (and it's still Matt's spot for now) just drop a line to jay@6ftsomething.co.uk and we'll give you all the info you need.

Secondly, after all the work that's gone in to the demo so far the last thing we needed was for the hard drive that stored it all to die...well guess what, it did exactly that.
All of the demo and other data relating to the band is on this hard drive of which there is no backup… Yeah yeah, I know better than that but it's a bit late now!
The only reason the site is still here is because it's hosted on a server so all I had to do was download it again… :D
SO….if anyone knows of a data recovery firm or anything like that, that won't charge me £400 + the price of a new hard drive, then let me know because there's 200gb of data on there and it all needs recovering…!

One good thing though is that the gig in the White Horse at Holme didn't go all that bad. We played alright but there's a sound monitor that cuts all power if it peaks…so anyone playing there soon beware and make sure you're PA cabs are on the far side of the ceiling beam that has the lights on it or it'll trip out every 5 seconds.

That's about it for now other than to say...WE NEED A DRUMMER...
Jay...

11/06/2007 - Another Demo Update...

It only took a week or so, but all the bass tracks are done...get it!!! The guitar tracks are gonna be started on Wednesday night and hopefully finished off on sunday after we've been to Hunny for the "Lifestyles Event".
Keep your eyes open in this friday's LYNN NEWS. Our gig at the White Horse in Holme should be in the gigs section, providing i gave them the right info...here's hoping hey...

More soon...
Jay...

01/06/2007 - Demo Update...

Well another night of recording and the drums are all done, this time without too many hicups. I've started my Bass tracks and hopefully they're be done within the next few days ready for Johnny B to start his. Hopefully it'll all be done ready for Gerry to come back from the TT on the Isle Of Mann and record his Guitar and Vocals.

Demo coming soon...watch this space...
Jay...

23/05/2007 - Demo Takes 1st Steps...

After a frantic search for drum mics, the 1st tracks of the demo were laid down last night. The setting up took a bit (4 hours) longer that expect due to plenty of bugs in the system including a phantom click track that would not go away.

If you've never been in a recording session before, CLICK HERE to see what happened to Matt after doing the same thing for 6 hours...

More demo updates to come soon...
Jay...

18/05/2007 - At last...It's Alive, It's Alive...

Finally, after weeks and even possibly months of sitting infront of my pc, the 1st version of 6ftSomething.co.uk is done. I hope you like it and if you don't be nice and send me an email telling me why you hate my work :) If there are any broken links or things that look a bit funny etc, email me too so that i can fix them.

Ta very muchly...
Jay...
